March 22, 2025 – The IPL season 18 kicked off in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, the iconic IPL venue in a great style, and a remarkable start was marked with a sparkling IPL Opening Ceremony 2025 including Bollywood’s charm as well as cricket’s madness appropriate to the event at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
It all kicked off with a vibrant laser show that made the stadium glow with glowing lights and the mood for the festivities was nothing but aerial. The maestro of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan, known as the “King of Bollywood,” was the lead performer at the show and put up a very energetic act that had the audience fascinated. In addition to that, Kohli who has become a name to reckon in cricket joined Khan on stage and the duo showed their dance moves to Jhoome Jo Pathan, a hit song, thus fans were excited with their collaboration.
During the event of the evening, Punjabi singer Karan Aujla showcased his special style as he sang some of his best tracks and also excited the people with his lively presence.
Shreya Ghosal, the legendary playback singer, also attended the event and she filled a bit of melody into the evening by soothing the audience with her soulful tunes. Bollywood star Disha Patani was the next artist to perform; however, several fans were disappointed as she was pulled off the stage during the telecast.
The president of the Cricket Association of Bengal, Snehasish Ganguly, highlighted the significance of Eden Gardens in the cricketing world, by saying, “Every player wants to play cricket in Eden Gardens. Even many people just want to see Eden Gardens. He promised the fans that the opening ceremony would be a “beautiful day of IPL for the residents of Kolkata” even though a 25 minute slot was given to it.
After the star-studded performances, the defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) were pitched against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the opening match of the season. The game was not only an initiation of a new IPL season but also wrote a new chapter of the league’s history as a football powerhouse that has been entertaining fans all over the world for the past 18 years. For the IPL 2025 season teams are having exciting matches, where cricket fans can witness some exciting games, and there are going to be some historical moments that will be remembered for a long time.
