Recipe of Lab e Shireen – A Festive Delight
Labe-e-Shireen is a creamy, fruit-based dish that mixes up jelly, custard, and vermicelli with nuts and fresh cream, transforming it into a colorful and refreshing treat for Eid.
Ingredients:
- 1 liter full-cream milk
- 4 tablespoons vanilla custard powder
- 1/2 cup sugar (to taste)
- 1/2 cup boiled vermicelli
- 1/2 cup colorful jelly (red and green)
- 1/2 cup canned fruit salad (or fresh chopped fruits)
- 1/4 cup chopped almonds and pistachios
- 1/2 cup fresh cream
- 1/2 teaspoon rose water (optional)
Instructions:
Prepare the custard. In a tiny bowl, dissolve custard powder into 1/2 cup cold milk. Put the rest of the hot milk in a pan with the sugar. Steadily mix in the cold custard layer to prevent separation of the mixture. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until the mixture thickens; turn off the heat and let it cool In a small bowl, dissolve custard powder in 1/2 cup cold milk.
- Boil the remaining milk in a pan and add sugar.
- Gradually pour in the custard mixture while stirring continuously to avoid lumps.
- Cook for 3-4 minutes until it cools down for a while.
- Assemble the Dessert: In a bowl, mix the boiled vermicelli, prepared custard, jelly, and fruit cocktail. Add fresh cream, rose water, and chopped nuts for extra flavor.
