Peshawar, April 14, 2025 — A very important event was organized by the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government in order to meet the housing needs of low income groups. The event was the official launch of the  Ehsaas Apna Ghar Scheme, which is not only a leading initiative but also the vision to provide interest-free loans for house construction and repair all over the province.

Ehsaas Apna Ghar Program Best For Low Income People

The people registered in the program can borrow from Rs. 0.5 million to 1.5 million with a seven year repayment period. A proper restriction will not make the monthly payments to exceed Rs 18,000, making the payment easy for low income families. With the  starting money of Rs. 4 billion, this important program will be established, and the fund will grow, thereby ensuring wider outreach and sustainability of the project.

The project is a joint venture between the KP Housing Department and the Bank of Khyber. The cooperation started after a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the two departments. This collaboration, in turn, will ensure the transference and recovery of the credits with maximum transparency and efficiency.

The Chief Minister of Ali Amin Gandapur, while addressing the event, mentioned that shelter is a fundamental human right rather than a basic need. Those in need not only borrowed the money but were also properly supported by the provincial government. The chief of the province added to his talk that shelter is not only a bare necessity but also one of the basic rights of humanity. The goal of the project is to enable people to build safe and decent houses.

The ‘Ehsaas Apna Ghar’ scheme is an umbrella project for the KP government that includes the Ehsaas Rozgar Programme, Ehsaas Hunar Programme, and Ehsaas Naujawan Programme, each targeted program aiming and focused on poverty eradication and young generation empowerment.
