Islamabad IT Park to Launch on August 14, A Milestone for Pakistan’s Tech Future

Islamabad: The Ministry of Information Technology has reported that the Islamabad IT Park will be the official launch on the 14th of August. The most advanced facility is planned to facilitate the technology sector and enable startups with task-oriented spaces, freelancers, and export-focused software companies.

Spanning across 66,893 square meters, the 7-floor high building will subsume two basements, one ground floor, and nine upper floors, thus, it will be able to host a total of 120 units serving as offices for the IT and IT-enabled services (ITeS) businesses.

A representative of the Ministry highlighted how the project could act as a hub for technological innovation. “The Islamabad IT Park is much more than a business venue as it is a real ecosystem supporting business, innovation, and collaboration,” the representative explained.

Besides the workspace areas, a business support center that resident companies can use for their legal services, financial consultation, and marketing services will be set up within the areas of the park. The industry-academia linkage center, whose goal is to unite the forces of the IT sector and educational institutions, will play a significant role in the park.

It has been announced by the Ministry that the center will also be used as the country’s first Tier III-certified data center, which will enhance the digital sector of the nation with high-level information security and uninterrupted power supply. “A data center like no other. The advanced technology arena in the national IT sector will climb to new heights with the inauguration of the data center,” the representative of the Ministry also said.

The government, along with the other facilities in Islamabad, is building a facility at Karachi Airport to indicate that they are sincere in expanding IT exports.

Corresponding to the official data of the Ministry of Science and Technology, IT parks the project is assumed to be the Pakistani basic technological infrastructure, the technology exchange platforms, and also the centers of research and innovation transformations, and are the place where all this will be commercialized.

With the formal inauguration just months away, the Islamabad IT Park is seen as a first step in taking Pakistan to the role of a major technological, innovative, and digital entrepreneurship hub in the region.
