Complete Guide for Making Your First ID Card

If you are making your ID card for the first time, here’s the complete process you need to know.

Your first ID card is the first step to becoming a responsible citizen. Once you turn 18, you should apply for your 14-digit ID card and make your identity official.

Required Documents
You must have the ID card of your parents or siblings. If you are adopted or an orphan, you will need your legal guardian’s ID card and proof of guardianship.

Bring your B-Form or a computerized birth certificate issued by the Union Council or Cantonment Board. You can also bring a naturalization or citizenship certificate if you have one.

Step 1: Get a token and wait for your turn.
Step 2: When it’s your turn, go to the counter for biometric verification. After that, get the biometric verification of one of your parents or siblings.

Step 3: This is the data entry step. Provide your personal details, give your fingerprints, and get your picture taken. Take a print of the form, check all your information, and get any mistakes corrected.

Step 4: Get the form verified. One of your parents or siblings should verify through biometric confirmation. If this is not possible, get the NADRA form verified by a gazetted officer or a public representative.

If you have a legal guardian, the NADRA form must be verified by a gazetted officer or a public representative. You also need a witness who has a national ID card along with an affidavit (Form ‘B’) as required by NADRA.

Step 5: This is the final interview. The office in-charge will ask some questions about your alpha, beta, and gamma family members (as per NADRA’s system) after receiving your application. You must answer these questions.

Fee Payment
Once your application is approved, you will receive a message on your phone. According to the category you chose, pay the fee at the NADRA office or online. In the Executive Category, the ID card fee is Rs. 2500 and it will be ready in 7 days. In the Urgent Category, the fee is Rs. 1500 and the card will be ready in 15 days. In the Normal Category, the fee is Rs. 750 and the card will be ready in 30 days.

When the given time is complete, go to the NADRA office with your receipt to collect your ID card.
