Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have officially announced through the Supreme Court and the Moon Sighting Committee that the Eid al-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, 2025, after the sighting of the Shawaal crescent moon on Saturday evening.
Shawwal Moon Confirmed: Eid Festivities Begin in Saudi Arabia and UAE
The Saudi Supreme Court has confirmed the moon sighting and ushered in Ramadan’s conclusion after 29 daylight hours of fasting.
Moreover, the Moon-sighting Committee which is a subgroup of the UAE Muslim Council for Fatwa, following the members’ evidence, confirmed that the Shawwal crescent moon was sighted directly overhead on Saturday evening. This confirmation leads to the declaration that this year’s Eid al-Fitr will start on March 30.
Eid al-Fitr, otherwise known as “Festival of Breaking the Fast” is a grand Islamic feast that is marked by Muslims all over the world. Ramadan, a whole month of fasting, prayer, and meditation, is concluded by it. The festival features group prayer, feasting, donation, and gift-giving, along with acts of charity, among other things.
