Karachi (August 4, 2025): Yesterday was a tragic day on the roads of Karachi. In just 24 hours, 8 road accidents claimed the lives of 7 people, including 2 women, and injured 2 others.
According to police officials, these accidents happened in different areas including New Sabzi Mandi, Nazimabad, Radio Pakistan, Korangi, Shah Faisal Colony, Manghopir, Landhi, and Gulistan-e-Johar. In the accident near New Sabzi Mandi, one man died. He was identified as Shiraz Hameed.
In Nazimabad No. 1, a woman died after being hit by an unknown vehicle. Her identity could not be confirmed. At Shah Faisal Colony flyover, a woman fell off a moving Qingqi rickshaw and was crushed by a bus. The 24-year-old woman, Iqra, died on the spot, while her 5-month-old baby, Sabiha, was seriously injured.
In Manghopir, a man on a motorcycle was crushed by a bus and died. Near Radio Pakistan, a pedestrian was hit by a rickshaw and lost his life. In Gulistan-e-Johar, a food delivery rider was injured after being hit by a car.
Police said that in the Manghopir Pakhtoonabad accident, a fast-moving passenger bus came from the wrong side and ran over the motorcyclists. A young man named Ali Hassan died in the accident, while another person named Abbas was injured. Abbas was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.
After the accident, police arrested the bus driver and took the bus into custody. Officials said that an investigation has started to find out who was responsible for the accident. In another tragic case, at Shah Faisal Colony Bridge, a woman along with her infant daughter fell from a Qingqi rickshaw. The woman died after being crushed under a bus, while the 5-month-old baby was badly hurt.
This year alone, 536 people have lost their lives in road accidents in Karachi, and more than 6,000 have been injured.
Meanwhile, near Defence Library, a trailer truck crashed into a bungalow wall. Two people, including the trailer driver, were injured 32-year-old Ramzan and 29-year-old Arshad. Police said the house was empty as the family was visiting Islamabad. The truck damaged the wall and was taken to the police station.
In another incident near Khayaban-e-Shujaat in Defence Phase 5, two cars collided. According to rescue officials, no one was hurt in the accident, but the front part of one car was damaged.
