Lahore: Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb has announced that people who convert their petrol motorbikes into electric bikes will get Rs. 100,000 cash, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel on Tuesday.
During a press conference, Maryam Aurangzeb said that PHA (Parks and Horticulture Authority) has started a new tree plantation campaign. She said the “Plant for Pakistan” project is part of Punjab Chief Minister’s vision. Through urban forests, the goal is to increase the green area in Punjab.
The minister also shared that Punjab’s first smog guns will be introduced to the media tomorrow. She added that those who switch their petrol bikes to electric will receive Rs. 100,000 cash. Also, people who change their lights to LED lights will get carbon green credit.
She further mentioned that the target of planting 50 million trees under “Plant for Pakistan” has been set. She said, “We did not make fake claims like ‘Billion Tree Tsunami.’ We monitored every tree we planted and mapped it properly. The installation of Australian-style technology will be completed this year.”
The minister said that a technology-based fire control force will be created in Punjab. Bank of Punjab will supervise this whole process. She also shared that forest lands were taken back from illegal occupation, and the Chief Minister’s vision is not only to grow forest cover but also to protect it.
She added that people in Lahore can get free plants by calling 1399, and the plants will be delivered to their homes. This gift is from Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for the people of Lahore. “Just dial 1399, and the plant will come to your house,” she said.
Maryam Aurangzeb also announced that 300,000 trees will be planted around Ring Road. She said smog has been a big issue in Lahore for the past 10 years. But now, under the direction of the Chief Minister, work is being done to control it. So far, 7 air quality monitors have been installed in the Punjab Air Quality System.
She said it is the duty of Lahore’s citizens to plant more trees. The more trees we have, the better our Air Quality Index will become.
