Washington (August 1, 2025): The United States has placed a 19% tariff on goods imported from Pakistan. The U.S. President has signed an executive order to make this official.
According to the details, the U.S. seems to be getting closer to Pakistan. After this tariff decision by President Trump, there is hope that Pakistan’s textile industry will grow stronger.
A foreign media report stated that the White House has released an official statement confirming a 19% tariff on Pakistani exports. In comparison, India will face a higher tariff of 25%.
The U.S. President has signed an executive order outlining the tariff details for several countries.
According to the order, the tariff on Canada has been increased from 25% to 35%. India is now at 25%, Bangladesh at 20%, while Turkey, Afghanistan, and Israel will face a 15% tariff. South Africa is now at 30%, Vietnam at 20%, and Venezuela at 15%.
Sources from the White House also shared more details: Switzerland will face a 39% tariff, Iraq 35%, Japan 15%, Libya 30%, Myanmar 40%, the UK 10%, and Syria 41%. The new tariffs come into effect starting today, August 1.
President Donald Trump said he made these decisions based on trade talks, mutual consultations, and available data.
He explained that the rising trade deficit was becoming a threat to U.S. national security. That’s why he took emergency steps to fix it right after taking office.
Trump added that countries who had successful trade negotiations reached fair tariff agreements, but those who failed to negotiate properly are now facing higher tariffs.
