Islamabad: The income tax return form is now available online in Urdu language, which will benefit around 84% of all filers. This will make the process easier for people to understand and use, reported by Save Our Pak channel.
According to details, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has launched the income tax return form in Urdu on their online system. By making the form easier to understand and available in Urdu, almost 84% of taxpayers will be able to benefit from it.
Income tax is a direct tax that is charged on the yearly income of individuals, businesses, or other organizations. In Pakistan, every citizen whose income is above the fixed limit must legally pay income tax. This tax is one of the main sources of revenue for the national treasury.
This development came during the weekly review meeting on proposed reforms in the FBR, chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Speaking at the meeting, the Prime Minister said, “The reforms being made in FBR by the federal government have increased tax collection compared to the GDP, which is a positive sign for the government.”
The Prime Minister instructed officials to remove institutional hurdles and red tape to ensure the reforms continue. He also directed that modern technology should be used in the customs clearance system to reduce processing time and make sure the system is applied nationwide.
He further said that the federal and provincial governments should work together so that the benefits of tax reforms can continue in the next financial year as well.
The Prime Minister emphasized that the effective implementation of already imposed taxes will help further improve tax collection.
During the briefing, it was informed that the FBR has achieved its tax collection target for the first month (July) of the new financial year and expects to meet the targets for the coming months too.
The setup of digital enforcement stations across the country for customs clearance is being given priority. The full implementation of the centralized assessment unit and the faceless customs system will make the customs clearance process faster and more transparent.
The policy framework, strategy changes, and reforms in FBR and customs clearance are continuing as per the set targets.
