Lahore: Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a new phase of the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ scheme. By the end of this year, one hundred thousand houses will be ready.
According to details, Maryam Nawaz said during the house distribution ceremony under the ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ project that the Punjab government has set a new record in Pakistan’s history by completing 62,500 houses in just six months.
She said that ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar’ is their most important and welfare-based project with no substitute. So far, interest-free loans worth more than 74 billion rupees have been given for 5 to 10 marla houses. In the last seven months alone, a total of 64,000 interest-free loans have been provided.
Maryam Nawaz explained that each loan will be returned in easy installments over nine years, so people can pay it back comfortably from their income.
She shared that 45,000 houses are currently under construction, while 9,000 houses have already been completed. She further said that by the end of August, the number of loans will reach 75,000, and by the end of this year, 100,000 houses will be completed. The future goal is to provide 500,000 houses in the next five years.
The Chief Minister stressed that all loans are given purely on merit. No one has received a loan through recommendation or bribery. “Not a single person can say they got the loan because of political connections,” she said.
In her speech, Maryam Nawaz added that the workers who used to build bricks for other people’s houses are now laying the foundations of their own homes. One worker shared that his wife and children also took part in building their house. “Today, you can proudly say that this is my own home,” she said.
Maryam Nawaz thanked former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, saying that he started this project by personally handing out the first checks. She prayed that Allah gives her enough resources to serve the people of Punjab in the best way possible.
