After a rumor of possible delays, the federal government has made sure the national budget for the year 2025-26 will be out on time.
Imdadullah Bosal, the Finance Secretary, verified that the National Assembly will receive the federal budget on June 10.
The budget presentation on June 2 was held up because Pakistan and the IMF were still negotiating important financial issues. According to Bosal, there will be virtual talks today between the two sides and the IMF, to reach a final agreement on important budget matters.
The Finance Secretary announced that the budget will conform to recommendations from the IMF and that relief options for the salaried group are under discussion. The IMF will be told that pensioners and those with fixed incomes need to be helped, he said.
The date of the next National Economic Council (NEC) meeting may be changed, according to Bosal, but no specific decision has been announced. The date for this year’s Annual Plan Coordination Committee (APCC) meeting is still uncertain.
