The metropolitan train service from CDA will function exclusively with electrical power which establishes it as Pakistan’s first pollution-free rail network system in urban areas. The new trams will benefit passengers with features such as temperature control along with Wi-Fi service as well as electronic ticketing systems and mobile app-based tracking.
Initiative development partners with international transport and engineering companies to execute this project as studies for feasibility and environmental impact continue. Construction will start by the late year 2025 and the first route will begin service in mid-2026.
Chairman CDA Captain (Retd) Anwar ul Haq affirmed that the tram project serves as part of a master plan to turn Islamabad into both a smart and green city sector. The project aims to create sustainable transportation which provides environmental benefits and public service benefits.
People have received the news positively since they view it as an essential improvement to the city’s updated public transport network. People in the area expect the initiative to deliver shortened travel and a cleaner city atmosphere.
The success of the electric tram network project may lead to sector expansions in Islamabad as well as its establishment in major cities such as Lahore and Karachi. The upcoming installation will establish numerous employment opportunities while producing daily commute changes for all citizens.
