Islamabad to Launch Electric Tram Service on Four Major Routes

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has declared intentions to establish Islamabad’s initial modern electric tram service transportation system, which will promote environmental sustainability. This project advances three main goals: relief of traffic problems, emission reduction as well and better access to public transport throughout the federal capital.

Major Routes Of Electric Tram Service

The first phase of Islamabad’s electric tram service network will cover four main pathways, including G-7 to G-11 and F-6 to F-10 and Blue Area to I-8, and PIMS to Faizabad.

The metropolitan train service from CDA will function exclusively with electrical power which establishes it as Pakistan’s first pollution-free rail network system in urban areas. The new trams will benefit passengers with features such as temperature control along with Wi-Fi service as well as electronic ticketing systems and mobile app-based tracking.

Initiative development partners with international transport and engineering companies to execute this project as studies for feasibility and environmental impact continue. Construction will start by the late year 2025 and the first route will begin service in mid-2026.
