Trinidad (August 9, 2025): Pakistan defeated West Indies by 5 wickets in the first match of the ODI series.
According to details, the first ODI between Pakistan and West Indies was played in Trinidad. The home side gave Pakistan a target of 281 runs, which the Pakistani team chased successfully in the 49th over with 5 wickets in hand.
On his debut, Hasan Nawaz scored a brilliant half-century and was named Player of the Match. He built a century partnership with Hussain Talat, which played a key role in securing the win.
Captain Mohammad Rizwan scored 53 runs, Babar Azam made 47, Hussain Talat contributed 41, and Salman Agha scored 23 runs. Debutant Hasan Nawaz was the top scorer with 63 runs from 54 balls.
Pakistan had won the toss and decided to bowl first. West Indies were bowled out for 280 runs in 49 overs. Evin Lewis was the top scorer for the hosts with 60 runs, while captain Shai Hope made 55 and Roston Chase scored 53 runs. Rutherford made 10, Gudakesh Motie scored 31, Shamar Joseph made 8, and Shepherd scored 4 runs before the team was all out.
From Pakistan’s side, Shaheen Shah Afridi bowled brilliantly, taking 4 wickets. Naseem Shah took 3 wickets, while Saim Ayub, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Salman Agha took one wicket each. Chasing the target, Pakistan batted with confidence and reached 281 runs in the 49th over for the loss of 5 wickets.
With this victory, Pakistan now leads the 3-match series 1–0.
