Pakistan Welcomes U.S. Brokered Ceasefire with India, Emphasizing Peace and Regional Stability

Islamabad, May 10, 2025 – Pakistan has certified the declaration of a comprehensive and immediate ceasefire with India through U.S. mediation, a major initiative towards a reduction of tensions following days of raised tensions around the Line of Control (LoC).

President Donald Trump made the breakthrough on Saturday after overnight meetings with U. S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Vice President JD Vance. Military activities are suspended at land, air and sea zones effective 5:00 p.m local time.

Pakistan’s leadership has always been supportive of the peace and dialogue, no matter what the provocations are. Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar resounded Islamabad’s commitment to the peace and stability in the region saying: “Pakistan continues to be committed for peace and will respond to aggression in measured and responsible manner.”

The latest hostilities were sparked off by an April 22 terrorist attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, where 26 people were killed. India blamed the attack on a militant group which was based in Pakistan, and acted with military strikes against Pakistani territory. Pakistan responded with the same effect by launching its operations which caused massive death and tension between the two nuclear armed neighbors.

The international community has responded warmly to the ceasefire , hoping it will mean long-term peace and stability in the area. Analysts highlight the need for maintaining a political process to eliminate the cause of tensions and ensure the lack of future escalation.

As the two nations are compelled to stop the hostilities, Pakistan emphasizes the need for continued dialogue and mutual respect to guarantee enduring peace in South Asia.
