Karachi: The Sindh government has announced a public holiday on 9th August across the province and has also issued an official notification.
According to details, the holiday has been declared in connection with the 282nd annual Urs of the Sufi poet Hazrat Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (RA). The notification confirms that Saturday, 9th August will be a public holiday in all parts of Sindh.
Sindh Secretary for Culture, Mohammad Khan Kalhoro, said that the three-day Urs celebrations will start from 9th August, and all preparations for the event have been completed.
The Minister for Culture has also officially invited the Governor of Sindh to attend the opening ceremony of the Urs. Thousands of visitors, scholars, and followers of Shah Latif (RA) are expected to attend from across the country.
To keep the event peaceful, the Deputy Commissioner of Hyderabad has issued a ban on the display of weapons during the Urs celebrations.
