Lahore, March 19, 2025- The government of Punjab has launched a new cash package for mothers and pregnant women throughout the province. This program is meant to provide financial assistance to mothers so that they can better take care of themselves as well as their children, particularly in the case of needy families.
A New Step for Mothers and Pregnant Women
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz launched the new ‘Aghosh’ initiative which serves as the first program in Pakistan designed to provide money support to mothers and pregnant women, mothers who are two years old or younger. Eligible women participating in this scheme will obtain financial support worth PKR 23,000.
The Punjab Health Department has said that qualifying women will receive monthly pay to help meet their healthcare needs as well as for medical and nutritional care during and after the postpartum period. This is intended to increase the incidence of safe deliveries in hospitals and health facilities which will subsequently lower maternal and infant mortality rates.
Officials say that payments will be made via bank payments or digital wallets for ease of access and transparency. This is part of a wider initiative targeting both women’s health, child welfare, and family development within the province.
Pay Only For Eligible Women
The pay will be provided to pregnant women and new mothers who are part of poor households and are signed up for government health services. Those receiving prenatal and postnatal care from government hospitals or accredited clinics will be given priority.
