Lahore: Due to heavy storms and flood-like conditions, a rain emergency has been declared in Punjab. Authorities have been told to keep people informed through sirens and public announcements, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel on Wednesday.
According to details, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz posted on social media platform X, saying that rain emergency has been imposed in different areas of Punjab because of the storm and flooding situation.
She added that government departments are working with full effort and dedication. The administration has been instructed to warn people through announcements and sirens to keep everyone safe.
Maryam Nawaz also requested the public to fully cooperate with authorities and follow all safety instructions. She said that protecting people’s lives and property is the government’s top priority.
The stormy rains have caused destruction in Punjab. In the last 36 hours, 63 people have lost their lives in different accidents. Villages are underwater, and big cities are also badly affected.
In the twin cities, after more than 230 mm of rain, a flood emergency has been declared.
In Lahore, a building collapsed in Akbari Gate area, killing three people, including a woman. In Faisalabad, 11 people have died in accidents during the past two days.
In Chiniot, electric poles and wires fell on a railway track, causing the track to become electrified. Because of this, train services have been stopped in the area.
