The Punjab Education Department has announced an extension in the summer vacations.
Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar said that schools in the province will now reopen on 1st September instead of 15th August.
He explained that this decision was made due to the extreme heat and humidity.
Earlier, department sources had shared that there was a proposal under discussion to extend the vacations until 31st August because of the intense weather conditions.
Rana Sikandar Hayat had also said that discussions were ongoing about the summer break. He mentioned that a final decision on whether to extend the holidays or not would be made soon.
It is important to note that Punjab has been receiving rain from time to time. However, when there is no rain, the weather becomes extremely hot and very humid. Keeping this situation in mind, the government decided whether to reopen schools or keep them closed.
