Makkah, July 15, 2025, According to the Jeddah Astronomical Society, the sun will be directly above the Holy Kaaba today at noon. This is the second time this year that this rare event will happen, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel on Tuesday.
As per reports, the exact time when the sun will be right above the Kaaba in Makkah will be 12:27 PM local time.
Majid Abu Zahra, the head of the Jeddah Astronomical Society, explained that this phenomenon happens when the sun moves south from the equator.
At that time, the sun will be at about 89.5 degrees, which means the Kaaba and any other structure nearby will cast no shadow at all.
Astronomy experts say this is the perfect time to find the accurate direction of Qibla. To do this, people from anywhere in the world can simply look at the sun at the same time as in Makkah, and the direction of the sun will be the exact Qibla direction.
It is important to mention that last week in Saudi Arabia, a spiritual ceremony of washing the Holy Kaaba took place. The Kaaba was washed with rose water, oud, perfume, and Zamzam water.
Like every year, this blessed practice was carried out on the 15th of Muharram. The inside walls, floor, and door of the Kaaba were cleaned with Zamzam water and rose essence.
For this special process, the key-bearer of the Kaaba opened its door after Fajr prayer, allowing officials to enter and perform the sacred cleaning. After washing, the inside of the Kaaba was scented with oud, rose essence, and special perfumes.
