Bolan district in Balochistan has been the scene of an anxious hostage crisis because terrorists have taken control of a passenger train and have taken many people hostage. The occurrence, which took place earlier today, has put the area on a high alert as security forces are doing everything possible to solve the case.
Terrorists Attack: Security Forces Launched Rescue Operation
As per the initial news, the armed campaigners hijacked the train near the hilly region of Bolan, forcing it to a halt. Eyewitnesses charge that the raiders, who they say stormed the coaches and took the passengers, including several hostages, appeared on the scene both to enable/allow others to escape while the hostages are the ones being held. The exact number of hostages remains unknown, but authorities are afraid that many travelers are blocked.
Security forces, including Frontier Corps and local law enforcement, have been sent to the site, as they launched a coordinated rescue operation. Large contingents of staff have set up barriers in the area to effectively control the situation and disarm the terrorists without harming the civilian population. Moreover, they are flying helicopters to conduct air investigation.
No one knows the reason for the attack yet, but security experts suspect it may be connected to the existing security problems in the province. Balochistan has been the scene of a rise in militant activity in the last few months, during which the various groups have targeted infrastructure and civilians.
At the same time, the government has sentenced the attack, with officials’ strong promises to take immediate action against those responsible. Interior Minister Sarfraz Bugti declared that all necessary steps are being taken to ensure the safe and timely recovery of the hostages.
As the state of emergency is sustained, the appeals of the passengers’ families for the latest developments are in some sort of a time warp. The tragedy could occur if the situation gets complicated and security services do not do their job properly. As the mission unfolds, further solid data will be coming into view.
