Indian media recently claimed that Pakistan’s hockey team has refused to take part in the upcoming Asia Cup in India. Now, the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has responded to this news.
According to ARY News, the PHF has rejected all such claims made by Indian media. They said that there has been no decision yet to pull out of the event.
PHF Secretary Rana Mujahid said that Pakistan has not refused to play in the Asia Cup. The final decision about whether the team will go to India or not will be made by the government.
He also added that Pakistan has neither refused to participate nor spoken with the Indian Hockey Federation. However, they are in contact with the Asian Hockey Federation. They are waiting for clear guarantees regarding security and visas.
On the other hand, sources in the Bangladesh Hockey Federation said that they have not received any official invitation for the Asia Cup in India. They mentioned that although Bangladesh is on standby, forming and preparing a team so quickly is not easy.
It’s important to note that just a day earlier, Indian media claimed that Pakistan had refused to play in the Asia Cup being held in India. After that, Bangladesh was reportedly included as a replacement team.
Indian media also reported that after Pakistan’s refusal, Bangladesh was added as an alternate team in the event.
