In their 56th match of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup League 2, Netherlands defeated Namibia by 53 runs. Ethiopia’s cricketing trouble concerning pulling off even successful chases, and the Dutch team’s skilled disassembling of cricket was put on exhibit. The tournament was held at Windhoek’s Wanderers Cricket Ground. They became fluent with the bat. 

Namibia vs Netherlands: The Strong Start

Namibia’s Batting Collapse

While Namibia suffered losses, Netherlands advanced further to claim victory, which they soon did. In a chase for 160, Namibia was kept within range during the powerplays, but were torn apart with the score being a like 29/3. With this strategy, the midorder was destroyed.

Despite the courageous effort from Captain Gerhard Erasmus who scored 31 runs, the other players collectively scored 106 runs in 30 overs. This win was achieved due to the amazing spell from Teja Nidamanuru.

This match portrays the growing tension between these two countries as seen in past years during the 2019 ICC T20 World Cup Qualifier and the 2005 ICC Trophy. The Dutch team had beaten the Namibians during the 2005 ICC Trophy, and in 2019 Namibia became the first team to qualify for the T20 World Cup.

Winning this game helps boost Netherlands’ standing in League 2 and they hope to improve their position in the remaining fixtures. Both teams struggle for respect in international cricket, which they have not earned so far.
