Heavy Rain Alert Issued in Saudi Arabia Which Areas Will Be Affected?

Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense Department has issued a weather alert for several regions of the Kingdom, warning about thunderstorms and heavy rain expected until Wednesday.

According to Saudi news reports, the Civil Defense said on its X account that the Makkah region may see moderate to heavy rain with hailstorms and dusty winds.

Reports mentioned that areas like Taif, Maysan, Adham, Makkah city, Al-Ardiyat, Al-Laith, Al-Qunfudhah, Al-Jumum, Al-Kamil, Bahra, Al-Muwaih, Turbah, Al-Khurmah, and Ranyah are likely to be affected by rain.

Other regions including Asir, Jazan, Al-Baha, and Najran will also face moderate to heavy rainfall, while Riyadh and Madinah may see light to moderate rain.

The Civil Defense advised citizens to follow safety measures, stay in secure places, and avoid risky areas. They also warned people to keep away from flooded zones, valleys, and low-lying areas, and to avoid swimming where rainwater collects. Citizens have been urged to follow instructions shared through official channels and social media accounts.

Meanwhile, a tragic incident took place yesterday in the tourist city of Abha, where lightning struck and killed two women, leaving another badly injured. The injured woman has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition.

A relative of the family said that two families had traveled from Al-Qurayyat for recreation in Abha. Suddenly, lightning struck the group, killing a woman and her 22-year-old daughter on the spot. Another daughter of the family was also hit and seriously injured. She was rushed to the hospital and remains in a critical state.
