Heavy Rain Expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan from August 17 to 19

There are chances of heavy rainfall in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa between August 17 and 19.

According to the Meteorological Department, Punjab and Islamabad will also see rainfall with thunder and lightning during the same days.

In Sindh, different districts may get heavy showers from August 17 to 21, while in Balochistan, rains are also expected between August 17 and 21.

The weather office has warned about possible flooding in rivers and streams, as well as chances of landslides. Tourists have been advised to avoid traveling to hilly areas, and local authorities have been asked to stay alert.

Meanwhile, emergency has been declared in flood and rain-affected districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Relief and Rehabilitation Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has issued a notification, saying that emergency will remain in place till August 31 in all affected areas.

According to the notification, districts including Swat, Buner, Bajaur, Torghar, Mansehra, Shangla, Upper Dir, Lower Dir, and Battagram will be under emergency. The deputy commissioners of these districts have been directed to carry out immediate relief work.

The PDMA has already started sending relief goods to the affected regions. Unfortunately, the number of deaths caused by rains and flash floods in KP has reached 308.
