After the forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms in different cities of Pakistan, many areas have announced that schools will remain closed tomorrow.
In Murree, schools will stay closed for two days due to the rain alert. Educational institutions will remain shut on 19 and 20 August.
The NDMA has also imposed Section 144 in the district because of the cloudburst alert.
In Abbottabad, the Deputy Commissioner has issued a notification for one-day school holiday. Rescue teams across the district have been told to stay on high alert.
In Azad Kashmir’s Bagh district, all schools have been closed temporarily after a strong flood warning from the Meteorological Department.
According to the official statement, all government and private schools will remain closed from 19 to 23 August. This step has been taken to protect students and staff as heavy rains are expected to create flooding conditions.
The Meteorological Department has predicted very heavy rainfall and thunderstorms in Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Bagh, Haveli, Kotli, Mirpur, and Bhimber in the coming days.
The department also warned that there are high chances of landslides and flash flooding in mountain areas.
In Islamabad, the weather office expects very heavy to extremely heavy rain and thunderstorms during the next 24 hours.
