Dubai (August 4, 2025): The UAE Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced new fees for issuing driving licenses and learning permits.
According to Arab media, the fee for a learning permit for motorcycles, light vehicles, and light automatic cars has been set at 100 dirhams. For light and heavy buses, mechanical machinery, and heavy vehicles, the learning permit fee will be 200 dirhams.
To open a traffic file, applicants will need to pay 200 dirhams, while the Safe Driving Guide fee is 50 dirhams. For the eye test, the fee will range from at least 140 to a maximum of 180 dirhams.
In addition to this, every applicant must pay 20 dirhams as innovation and knowledge fees. For issuing a driving license, people under 21 years of age will pay 100 dirhams, and those 21 or older will be charged 300 dirhams, which includes the 20-dirham innovation fee.
The Roads and Transport Authority also said that if anyone wants to change their driving license category from manual to automatic or automatic to manual, they will need to pay an extra 200 dirhams, plus 20 dirhams innovation charges.
