PTI to Challenge 9th May Verdicts in High Court

Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar, has announced that the party will challenge the recent court decisions in the High Court related to the 9th May cases.

According to ARY News, Barrister Gohar Ali said that PTI leadership will not accept the punishments announced by the Faisalabad Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). He said they will soon decide whether to launch a movement or return to the National Assembly. A full plan of action will be shared soon.

Barrister Gohar added that PTI believes in the legal system and only wants justice. He said the leaders who were punished are not supporters of violence. “We faced many hardships, but still respected the system,” he said. “Even after our leaders were sentenced, we did not reject the system or create a separate assembly outside parliament.”

Now, PTI’s political committee will decide whether the party should return to the assembly or not.

He also questioned, “What good will it do to democracy if people are declared disqualified like this?” He said some forces are trying to destroy the system. “This is the time for political parties to come together and protect democracy. We should talk and find a solution.”

Barrister Gohar further said that till now, the court hasn’t given a decision on their petition. He also said the term of the Election Commission has ended, but it is still making decisions and disqualifying PTI members.

It is important to note that the Faisalabad Anti-Terrorism Court has sentenced PTI’s central leadership to 10 years in prison for their involvement in the 9th May incident.

In total, the ATC gave punishment to 108 people and released 77 others in the same case.
