Schools, Hospitals Put on Alert in Punjab as Another Heatwave Begins Today

According to the PDMA Punjab, the province should prepare for the heatwave that is expected from May 20 to 24.
Relief Commissioner Nabeel Javed ordered all commissioners and deputy commissioners in the province to be vigilant.
The district administration should be vigilant as we are expecting a heatwave, the minister pointed out.
He has also called attention to the school education, health, transport, local government, Rescue 1122, and other appropriate departments.
From May 20 to May 24, temperatures in urban and plain regions of Punjab could increase and trigger a heatwave, says a spokesperson from PDMA.
He is concerned about a temperature rise that is expected in the coming days. He believes that it will be between 5 and 7 degrees Celsius warmer than usual until May 24.
As a result of the heatwave, some plain regions can experience strong winds and dust storms.
At the instruction of the Chief Minister, PDMA Punjab has issued alerts to the districts. According to DG PDMA, the government is responsible for ensuring that public places always supply clean water for people to use.
Hospitals and mobile health units were told by DG PDMA to equip themselves for first-aid care of heat stroke.
Individuals must exercise caution due to the high temperature and heatwave, according to DG PDMA.
People are urged to remain at home in hot weather, choose light clothes, and drink plenty of water. The government has run radio, television, and social media campaigns to inform the public about how to protect themselves from the heat.
