Arrival of 153 Palestinians from Gaza in South Africa raises serious questions

Gaza (15 November 2025): Israel appears to be using new methods to move Palestinians out of Gaza. According to reports, agents working with support from the Israeli military are now sending Palestinians to other countries.

A charter plane carrying 153 Palestinians from Gaza landed in South Africa, leaving officials confused about how and why this happened. Al Jazeera reported that the group was first taken by bus across the Yellow Line, an area where Israeli forces have previously killed over 100 Palestinians who tried to cross.

From there, the group was flown out of a southern Israeli airport on a chartered aircraft and landed in South Africa.

South Africa’s foreign ministry said officials were shocked when the Palestinians arrived in Johannesburg without documents and without any prior information. Because of the unusual situation, they were kept inside the plane for 12 hours and were not allowed to get off.

The South African president said that after a local charity organization intervened, authorities decided to allow the group to leave the aircraft on humanitarian grounds. However, he added that the government is now investigating how these people reached the country without clearance.

Israeli military officials claim that the Palestinians were allowed to leave Gaza based on assurances provided by a “third country.”
Meanwhile, Palestinian officials warn that different agencies, with help from the Israeli army, are secretly moving Palestinians from Gaza to various countries. They have urged people to stay cautious.
