Big News for People Using 200 to 400 Electricity Units

Lahore: There is good news for people who use 200 to 400 electricity units. A PML-N MPA has made a big demand on the government to give relief to the public, as Reported By Save Our Pak News Channel on Friday.

According to details, PML-N MPA Peer Ashraf Rasool has written a letter to the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC), asking for quick reforms in electricity bills to address the rising concerns of the people.

In his letter, the MPA asked the government to increase the limit for cheap electricity units from 200 to 400. The purpose of this step is to give relief to low-income consumers who are struggling to pay high bills.

He stressed that reforms in electricity billing will help reduce defaults and control the growing frustration among people.

Peer Ashraf Rasool also suggested that NEPRA and DISCOs should be instructed to take immediate action on billing complaints to restore public trust.

The PML-N MPA said that lowering energy prices will not only benefit consumers but will also play an important role in restoring investors’ confidence in the country.

It is important to note that during the National Assembly Standing Committee on Energy meeting, the issue of big differences in bills between 200 and 201 units was raised. The question was asked: Why is the bill for 200 units around Rs 5,000, but for 201 units, it suddenly becomes Rs 15,000?

Rana Sikandar Hayat said that lifeline consumers pay Rs 5,000 for 200 units, but as soon as they use 201 units, the bill jumps to Rs 15,000. Just one extra unit removes them from the protected category for the next six months. He suggested that at least for that month, they should remain non-protected instead of six months.
