Big Relief for Public Free Solar System with Inverter and Battery Announced

Peshawar: A major relief program has been announced for the public regarding free and easy-installment solar systems. Under this scheme, inverter units and other essential equipment will also be provided.

According to official details, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to provide solar systems to 120,000 deserving households in the merged districts. These systems will be given either free of cost or on easy monthly installments.

Each selected home will receive a 2-kilowatt solar system, which will include an inverter and all necessary accessories required for basic electricity needs.

The estimated cost of each solar system ranges between PKR 255,000 and PKR 300,000. The total project budget is expected to be around PKR 13 billion, which will be fully funded by the provincial government.

This solar project will be implemented in Bajaur, Khyber, Kurram, Orakzai, Mohmand, North Waziristan, and South Waziristan. The program will be completed under the financial model of the Bank of Khyber.

Two payment options have been introduced under this scheme. In the refundable option, beneficiaries will pay approximately PKR 8,300 per month for 36 months. In the non-refundable option, the solar system will be provided completely free, and no payment will be taken from the user.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government will select the eligible families. Vendor selection will be handled by the Bank of Khyber, while PEDO will provide technical support to ensure proper installation and system quality.
