Debut Sensation, Five Wickets in One Over Create a New World Record

Karachi (24 December 2025): A young cricketer shocked the cricket world by creating a historic record in T20 International cricket. In his very first international match, he took five wickets in a single over — something never done before at this level.

Cricket is one of the most popular sports in the world, and many players have delivered impressive performances on their debut. However, what happened recently was something truly extraordinary and had never been seen in T20 International history.

The fast bowler who achieved this rare record does not belong to Australia, England, India, or Pakistan. Instead, he is 28-year-old Gede Priandana, who represents the Indonesian national team.

Priandana achieved this incredible feat in his first T20 International match against Cambodia. He dismissed five batters in a single over, breaking all previous records, as no bowler had ever taken five wickets in one over in T20 Internationals before.

Cambodia was chasing a target of 168 runs set by Indonesia. After 15 overs, Cambodia had scored 106 runs for the loss of five wickets and still needed 62 runs to win.

At this stage, the Indonesian captain handed the ball to Priandana for the first time in the match. On his first three deliveries, he took three consecutive wickets and completed a hat-trick.

The fourth ball produced no run. On the fifth and sixth deliveries, he took two more wickets, completing the unbelievable five-wicket over.

It is important to note that five wickets in one over have happened twice in domestic T20 cricket, but this is the first time it has ever occurred in T20 International cricket. Previously, four wickets in an over had been recorded only 14 times in T20 Internationals.
