DG ISPR says Faiz Hameed’s court martial is a legal and judicial process

Rawalpindi: DG ISPR Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that the court martial of former DG ISI Faiz Hameed is a legal and judicial process, and there should be no unnecessary speculation about it.

During an informal discussion with journalists, the DG ISPR made it clear that the ongoing court martial is being handled under the law, and people should avoid guessing or spreading assumptions. He added that once the process is completed and a final decision is made, the public will be informed officially.

Lt. Gen. Ahmed Sharif also stated that Pakistan did not carry out any operation inside Afghanistan last night. He said that whenever Pakistan takes action, it announces it openly. He urged the Afghan interim government to take verifiable action against terrorist hideouts.

He explained that cross-border support for terrorism remains a major issue. There is also a need to break the network of smuggling and political crime along the Pakistan–Afghanistan border. He further said that many social media accounts operated from outside the country are trying to spread anti-state narratives.

The Army spokesperson added that Pakistan’s concerns are with the Afghan interim government, not with the Afghan people. He said Pakistan must strengthen its internal systems if it wants to fight terrorism in an organized and effective way.

He stressed that the people of Pakistan and the armed forces are united against terrorism and that terrorists will be pursued until the very end.
