The federal cabinet has officially approved amendments to the Army Act during a meeting held in Islamabad.
According to ARY News, the cabinet meeting was led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, where changes in all three military service acts were approved.
These amendments will be presented in the National Assembly shortly.
Under the changes linked to Article 243, legal protection will be given to the ranks of Field Marshal, Marshal of the Air, and Admiral of the Fleet.
The cabinet has also approved new legislation to create the position of Chief of Defence Services. A law will also be made for the post of Commander of the National Strategic Command.
Sources say the cabinet has approved bringing a new bill related to the Federal Constitutional Court as well. After cabinet approval, the bills will first be presented in the National Assembly today and then moved to the Senate tomorrow.
