Field Marshal Asim Munir praised as an expert in multi-directional foreign policy

Islamabad (December 23, 2025): The British newspaper Financial Times has described Pakistan’s Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir as an expert in multi-directional foreign policy.

In its report, Financial Times wrote that Field Marshal Asim Munir has emerged as one of the most effective strategic leaders in the changing global order. The paper noted that global politics is rapidly shifting, creating new but complex challenges for middle-power countries.

According to the report, these global changes have made diplomacy more difficult for middle powers. However, Pakistan’s Field Marshal is considered one of the most successful leaders in balancing multiple international alliances at the same time.

The newspaper further stated that Field Marshal Asim Munir has shown exceptional ability to work with former US President Donald Trump’s unconventional diplomatic style. His approach has become a clear and successful example of how middle-power states can follow a balanced, multi-track foreign policy and diplomacy.

The report highlighted that Pakistan’s leadership remained actively engaged with Washington, Beijing, Riyadh, and Tehran simultaneously. Field Marshal Asim Munir created new diplomatic opportunities for Pakistan during a fast-changing global environment and guided the country’s foreign policy in an effective and practical manner.

Financial Times also mentioned that the Field Marshal’s polite, calm, and friendly diplomatic tone with Donald Trump proved beneficial. This diplomatic success, the report added, caused disappointment for India on the global stage.

The newspaper further noted that India faced greater difficulty than expected in playing the middle-power role. It stated that India failed to adjust to the changing global situation and Trump’s diplomatic style, which led to setbacks in its middle-power strategy.
