May 9 attack case Shah Mehmood Qureshi acquitted, Yasmin Rashid and Umar Sarfraz Cheema sentenced to 10 years

Lahore (December 19, 2025): An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has announced its verdict in the May 9 attack case related to the incident at Club Chowk, GOR.

According to the court’s decision, senior PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi has been acquitted due to a lack of evidence. However, Dr. Yasmin Rashid, Umar Sarfraz Cheema, Mian Mehmood-ur-Rasheed, and Ijaz Chaudhry were each sentenced to 10 years in prison.

As reported by ARY News, the Anti-Terrorism Court delivered the verdict after completing the trial of the attack case. The court found sufficient evidence against several accused, while Shah Mehmood Qureshi was cleared of all charges.

The verdict was announced by ATC Judge Manzar Ali Gul inside Kot Lakhpat Jail, where the trial proceedings were conducted.

In this case, the court acquitted 13 accused persons, while 8 individuals were convicted and sentenced. A total of 25 accused were tried in the case, out of which 4 were declared proclaimed offenders.
