Pakistan Declared “Winner” and India “Loser” in Trump’s New Foreign Policy

A new analysis by the American magazine Foreign Policy says that Pakistan has clearly emerged as a “winner,” while India has been labeled a “loser” under former U.S. President Donald Trump’s new foreign policy approach.

According to the magazine, Washington’s political balance has shifted in Pakistan’s favor. During Trump’s second term, Pakistan made a strong strategic return in U.S. policy circles, which became a setback for India. Foreign Policy described Pakistan’s comeback as quiet but powerful, saying that Pakistan achieved what many long-time U.S. allies could not.

The report states that Pakistan has once again become a valuable and effective partner for the United States. Through careful and smart diplomacy, Islamabad managed to change the balance of power in Washington. Pakistan not only regained its position but also rebuilt its influence, and is now being taken seriously again by U.S. leadership.

The magazine also credited Pakistan for playing an important role in the arrest of a major terrorism suspect during Trump’s second term, calling it a key success for the former U.S. president. It added that Pakistan worked successfully within Trump’s “results-based” diplomatic style, and that topics like cryptocurrency were also discussed as part of U.S.–Pakistan talks and agreements.

Foreign Policy further mentioned growing cooperation in the field of important minerals. It said that Field Marshal Asim Munir’s close personal relationship with Trump became a major reason for improving U.S.–Pakistan relations. Pakistan’s voice in Washington grew stronger because of the military leadership, and both the Prime Minister and the Field Marshal received a warm welcome at the Oval Office. Trump himself reportedly highlighted his personal trust in Asim Munir as an important factor in strengthening ties.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Ambassador to the U.S., Rizwan Saeed Sheikh, said that relations between Pakistan and the United States have greatly improved. He noted that at the same time, U.S. ties with India have weakened. According to him, Pakistan moved forward during the Trump period, while India entered a more defensive and distant position.

The ambassador also said that India faced growing trade pressure, and that U.S.–India relations fell to their lowest point in two decades. India’s continued purchase of Russian oil also reportedly caused dissatisfaction in Washington.
