President Asif Ali Zardari has accepted the resignations of both Supreme Court judges who recently stepped down from their positions.
According to ARY News, President Asif Ali Zardari approved the resignations of Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Minallah, who had decided to leave their posts.
Both senior judges — Justice Mansoor Ali Shah and Justice Athar Minallah — resigned yesterday in protest after the 27th Constitutional Amendment officially became part of the Constitution.
They submitted their resignations right after President Zardari signed the 27th Amendment. The judges sent their resignation letters directly to the President.
Both judges said that the 27th Amendment goes against the Constitution of Pakistan and called it a serious attack on the independence of the judiciary.
