Shocking claims about the PTI founder and his marriage to Bushra Bibi

A new report by The Economist’s digital magazine 1843 has made several explosive claims about the PTI founder and Bushra Bibi. According to the report, the PTI founder married Bushra Bibi, who was known as a spiritual guide in Punjab, to gain power and influence.

The report states that Bushra Bibi played a major role in shaping the PTI founder’s personal life and political decisions. It claims that she used spiritual rituals, amulets, and supernatural practices to guide him, and he followed her instructions completely in hopes of achieving political success—even to the point of marrying her for “power and destiny.”

According to 1843 Magazine, several domestic staff members said they were often sent to buy items for Bushra Bibi’s rituals. They alleged that she asked for meat, black animals’ heads, and liver, which she used to “remove the spirits” of the PTI founder’s former wife, Reham Khan.

The report also claims that even after becoming Prime Minister, the PTI founder continued to rely heavily on rituals and superstitions. Despite public claims of merit and good governance, Bushra Bibi was said to have the final say in many state matters. She reportedly influenced official appointments, daily decisions, and even the timings of the PM’s travel. The magazine stated that the Prime Minister’s plane would not take off without her approval.

Another claim mentioned that Jahangir Tareen was pushed out of politics after being identified through “spiritual signs.” Tareen reportedly feared this outcome after his first meeting with Bushra Bibi, during which she allegedly said she wore white clothes to make sure he didn’t see her as someone practicing black magic.

The report further alleges that several loyal staff members and close aides were removed from their positions on Bushra Bibi’s instructions.

The Economist also wrote that Awn Chaudhry was stopped from attending the Prime Minister’s oath-taking ceremony because Bushra Bibi said she had seen a dream in which his presence would “block her arrival.” A few hours before the ceremony, Chaudhry was sent a message telling him not to attend.

The article also claims that some intelligence officials passed sensitive information to the PTI founder through Bushra Bibi and her spiritual circle. These details were presented to him as “spiritual insights.”

According to ministers and staff working at the PM House, Bushra Bibi was given excessive authority. Senator Faisal Vawda also publicly stated that her influence on state affairs was far greater than it should have been.

The report adds that Bushra Bibi was present even during the PTI founder’s one-on-one meeting with Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, and that she spoke for most of the discussion. It further alleges that when corruption concerns about her were reported, the PTI founder removed then-DG ISI Lt. Gen. Asim Munir from his position.

1843 Magazine claims that Bushra Bibi created tensions with many of the PTI founder’s allies, while he continued following superstitious ideas instead of focusing on his promises—such as building one million homes and providing millions of jobs.

The report notes that corruption cases against the PTI founder and his wife contradict their claims of clean politics. It states that many of their decisions in power were based on personal beliefs and spiritual influence rather than policy or merit.

Regarding the events of May 9, the report says that the violence and attacks on military installations raised serious questions about the PTI founder and his party’s role.

It also points out that no education records were found for Bushra Bibi or Maryam Wattoo at Queen Mary College Lahore. Her connection with the PTI founder brought her significant influence in political and public life, and many YouTube videos and sensational stories were made about her alleged spiritual practices.

One driver claimed he was regularly ordered to bring cut-off black goats’ heads for rituals. According to the report, Bushra Bibi acted like a “Lady Macbeth figure,” portrayed as a sorceress who influenced the national hero and controlled him through her spiritual grip.
