Washington (January 03, 2026): Former US President Donald Trump has confirmed that the United States carried out a major military operation in Venezuela. He claimed that Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife were arrested and removed from the country after the operation.
Trump shared the information on social media, saying that US forces successfully conducted a large-scale action against Venezuela and its leadership. He added that the operation was carried out in cooperation with American law-enforcement agencies. Trump also announced that he would hold a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago residence to provide more details.
In another post on Truth Social, Trump said that Maduro and his wife were taken into custody after the operation and were then sent out of the country.
Earlier, US officials had confirmed to American media outlets that Trump had approved the military action. According to CBS News, Trump ordered strikes on several locations inside Venezuela, including military facilities. These strikes came after months of military preparations in the region. During this period, the aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford and other US warships were deployed in the Caribbean Sea.
Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro also confirmed the attacks and announced a state of emergency in the country. He said that the United States had launched an attack on Venezuela and strongly condemned what he called American military aggression. Maduro warned that such actions could threaten international peace and stability.
He accused the United States of trying to take control of Venezuela’s strategic resources, including oil and minerals. He added that Venezuela would not allow any foreign power to seize its national wealth and said that such attempts would fail.
