Two new teams have officially entered the Pakistan Super League (PSL). The new franchises will represent Hyderabad and Sialkot, bringing fresh excitement to the tournament.
According to details, FKS secured the Hyderabad team after placing a bid of Rs175 crore. The eighth PSL team was purchased by OZ Developers for Rs185 crore, and this team will compete under the name Sialkot.
Speaking at the ceremony, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi congratulated the people of Hyderabad and Sialkot. He said that franchise owners have shown strong confidence in the PSL, calling the addition of these two cities a historic moment for the league.
Naqvi added that these bids are not only a success for the PSL but also a proud achievement for Pakistan cricket.
At the start of the event, the PCB Chairman also announced prize money for winning teams. The Rising Star Asia Cup champion team received Rs90 million, while the Hong Kong Sixes winners were awarded Rs18.5 million.
It is important to note that after the former Multan Sultans owner, Ali Tareen, withdrew from the auction, nine parties competed for the new franchises.
The two successful bidders will now choose team names from cities including Rawalpindi, Hyderabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Muzaffarabad, and Sialkot.
