Pakistan’s ODI captain Shaheen Afridi is not playing the second ODI match against Sri Lanka, and now the real reason has come out.
Shaheen Afridi is missing the second ODI because he is not feeling well. All-rounder Faheem Ashraf is also not part of the second ODI.
In Shaheen’s absence, Pakistan’s T20I captain Salman Ali Agha is leading the national team. Abrar Ahmed has been included in the playing XI as Shaheen’s replacement.
After winning the toss, Salman Ali Agha said that Pakistan would bowl first. He explained that there was a lot of dew in the first ODI, so they want to take advantage of it later. He said the team wants to start the match strongly.
He also confirmed that Shaheen is sick and Faheem Ashraf is not playing either. Wasim Junior has been added to the playing XI in their place.
It is important to remember that Shaheen Afridi was made captain on 10 November, before the three-match ODI series against South Africa, replacing Mohammad Rizwan. In his first assignment as captain, he won the home ODI series 2–1 against South Africa.
