India’s Withdrawal from Asia Cup 2025 Sparks Controversy

Reports state that the BCCI informed the ACC that they will not take part in the Asia Cup 2025 due to recent problems with Pakistan.
The situation comes after the relationship between the nations has again reached a new level of tension.
In India, it is reported that the BCCI has stated they cannot join a tournament led by Pakistan, since the ACC is now under the direction of Pakistan’s Interior Minister and their PCB Chairman.
The BCCI representative informed local media that India has made its stand about the Asia Cup known to the ACC.
“The Indian team is not allowed to participate in a tournament run by the ACC, as the chief is a Pakistani minister.” That’s the general spirit of the country, according to the official.
Not only did the BCCI question the Asia Cup, but it also refused to take part in the Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Sri Lanka next month and stopped attending ACC tournaments, until guidance is given by the Indian government.
We have spoken to ACC about our decision not to join the upcoming Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup and we are unsure if we will take part in any future events with them. We are always in communication with the government in India.
This decision casts doubt on whether the Asia Cup 2025 will take place in India later this year.
With this latest happening, the supports of India-Pakistan cricketing relations are more shaky than before.
Since then, both countries have competed in cricket events like the World Cup, Champions Trophy, and Asia Cup.
