On April 9, 2026, a major court decision declared that using government employees, resources, and machinery for political purposes is illegal.
According to ARY News, the Peshawar High Court announced its verdict in a case related to the use of public resources in political rallies. The court clearly stated that such actions are not allowed under the law.
In a detailed 28-page judgment written by Justice Sahibzada Asadullah, it was said that peaceful protest is an important part of a democratic society and helps express public opinion. However, government resources belong to all citizens and must be used carefully.
The court explained that the Chief Minister is responsible for protecting and managing public resources. It warned that using these resources for political activities can increase instability, especially during difficult economic conditions.
The judgment clearly stated that government employees, machinery, and funds should only be used for public welfare and according to the Constitution. Misusing authority is both a legal and moral violation.
The court also directed the Chief Secretary to make sure that all departments work within the law and stop the use of government resources for political purposes.
Additionally, the court ordered the Inspector Generals of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to ensure that police are not used for political activities. It warned that strict legal action will be taken if the court’s orders are not followed.
