Iran has warned about the risk of naval mines in the Strait of Hormuz and has released new alternative routes for ships to stay safe.
According to Iranian media, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has shared a special map to guide ships through safer paths. The goal is to help vessels avoid dangerous areas where mines may be present.
Reports from Al Jazeera say that Iran’s naval forces have clearly marked these alternative sea routes. These routes are designed to protect ships traveling through the busy waterway.
The Iranian Navy stated that ships should stay in contact with them while crossing the area. According to the guidelines, vessels entering from the Gulf of Oman should move toward the north of Larak Island and then continue into the Gulf.
For ships returning, they should travel from the Gulf toward the south of Larak Island and then move back into the Gulf of Oman. These directions are meant to reduce the risk and ensure safer movement.
Meanwhile, reports from Tasnim News Agency said that many ships are still stuck in the Strait of Hormuz. It was also stated that no ship will be allowed to pass through the area without permission from Iranian forces.
