The White House has announced that a high-level US team will travel to Islamabad for talks related to Iran.
According to White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt, officials including J.D. Vance, Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner will visit Islamabad to take part in negotiations with Iran.
Speaking to the media, she said that J.D. Vance is playing an important role in these talks. She added that meaningful discussions with Iran are expected to continue over the next two weeks.
She also revealed that Iran’s earlier 10-point proposal was rejected, but now Iran has presented a more practical and logical plan after ignoring its initial demands.
The spokesperson said that the US is aware of Iran’s response to Israeli actions in Lebanon and also understands Iran’s conditions related to a possible ceasefire.
She further clarified that reports about ships being stopped in the Strait of Hormuz are not true. According to her, many commercial ships are still passing through safely without any fear.
Earlier, former US President Donald Trump had also commented on the situation. He said that many unauthorized people are sharing fake agreements and documents related to the negotiations.
He made it clear that these circulating drafts have nothing to do with official US-Iran talks. He added that once investigations are complete, all such misinformation will be exposed quickly.
Trump also said that real discussions will happen behind closed doors based on acceptable points. He explained that these are the same points that helped reach a ceasefire agreement and that the issue can be resolved easily.
