Public transport made completely free, big relief announced

(April 3, 2026): In a major relief step, public transport has been made completely free for citizens under the Prime Minister’s national savings and austerity program.

According to ARY News, the program has now started in Punjab, and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced several relief measures for the public.

She shared good news by announcing that public transport will be free in all cities of Punjab. This includes services like the Orange Line, Metro Bus, Speedo buses, and Green electric buses. Citizens will not have to pay any fare while using these transport systems.

Along with this, the Punjab government has also introduced support for farmers. It has been decided to give a subsidy of 100 rupees per liter on diesel. Registered motorcycle riders will also get relief, as they will receive a subsidy of 100 rupees per liter on up to 20 liters of petrol every month.

Maryam Nawaz said that the Prime Minister has taken a big financial burden to support the people and protect them from economic difficulties. She added that even in tough economic conditions, helping the public remains the government’s top priority, and citizens will not be left alone during hard times.

She further explained that the global economy is facing pressure due to war situations, and countries like Pakistan are more affected because of their dependence on imported oil. She encouraged people to use public transport during this period and assured that once conditions improve, more steps will be taken to reduce the financial burden on citizens.
