Because Pakistan and India are in separate initial groups, it is unlikely they will face off in early matches in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, reports in India have confirmed.
Because of the bad political connection, the two teams can only compete in events organized by the International Cricket Council (ICC) or the Asia Cup.
Nevertheless, sources say the chances of seeing India and Pakistan in the same men’s mega event next year are slim after they had a heated exchange recently.
We can be sure that the subject will be covered at our annual meeting. A BCCI source said that while India and Pakistan may still play in the ICC knockouts, not having them in the same pool at the event is possible.
Finally, the ICC will reach its decision at its annual conference, being held in Singapore from July 17-20.
Jay Shah, the ICC chairman and former secretary of the BCCI, is expected to be present at the conference. He has only faced his first annual meeting since taking up the position in December last year.
Pakistan and India have clashed often, most recently when India did not send their team to Pakistan for the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy earlier this year.
Until both teams agreed to the proposal, the PCB maintained a serious protest against the BCCI.
