The local administration in Karachi has released new official prices for essential food items across the city.
According to the latest notification issued by the Commissioner Karachi, new rates have been fixed for pulses, rice, and spices. Prices for mash daal, moong daal, masoor daal, and chana have been officially updated.
Authorities warned that strict action will be taken against shopkeepers selling items above the government-approved rates.
New prices have also been introduced for different varieties of basmati rice in an effort to provide relief to the public during rising inflation.
Similarly, official rates for spices such as red chili, coriander, and turmeric have also been finalized.
The difference between wholesale and retail prices has been clearly mentioned in the notification. Shopkeepers have been instructed to display the official price list at visible places in their stores.
Officials said that legal action will be taken against anyone charging more than the approved prices.
Citizens have also been requested to check the official price list before buying daily-use items.
